FEDGWARE

Full Adapptive service middleware for edge federation (nº ZL-2023/00763, ZL-2024/00660)

The FEDGWARE project is led by Bilerro, with ORMAZABAL also taking part. The project is part of the HAZITEK PROGRAM and has ran from 2023 to 2024.

The main goal of FEDGWARE is to generate a new model for the coordination and processing of industrial data at the edge, providing autonomy and intelligence to the devices responsible for collecting data. To this end, it addresses the development of middleware responsible for enabling federation between different Edge nodes with aggregation and calculation capabilities, providing data processing capacity to the entire set so that decision-making can be carried out effectively and in real time where necessary. This new solution will be validated through a use case in the energy sector, which faces heterogeneous environments, a distributed nature, and near real-time computing needs. The goal of the FEDGWARE project is to design and develop federated and decentralized middleware that will enable analytics and intelligence to be applied to the edge nodes it coordinates.

This will enable each of the nodes that form part of the federation to communicate with each other and share data and computing resources that are not currently in use, securely and efficiently. To achieve this, it will be necessary to generate know-how and new developments in relation to the technologies involved in each of the different phases of the project.
