STARMS

Suite Tools for Analytic-based Remote Management Services (nº ZL-2024/00665)

The STARMS project is led by Bilerro, with LKS Next also taking part. The project is boosted by the HAZITEK PROGRAM and has ran from 2024 to 2025.

The STARMS project focuses on advanced tools for providing maintenance services in the railway sector on embedded systems. Specifically, it is based on the tools that Bilerro has been using as an expert in this market segment. Bilerro currently provides its customers with maintenance services tailored to actual demand and supported by descriptive and predictive analytics to manage that demand. To do this, Bilerro relies on the development of its own digital tools, such as the RMS (Remote Management System) and AMS (Analytic-based Maintenance) platforms.

Digitization is leading to an increased risk of cyberattacks due to (i) the deployment of IoT devices on the infrastructure, (ii) the increase in exposure through interconnection with external systems, and (iii) the dissemination of information to the public (on screens both in stations and inside train carriages).

The STARMS project provides remote management tools for embedded equipment (RMS) and equipment maintenance management tools (AMS) with a layer of cybersecurity that allows analytical models to be implemented at the edge, on the embedded systems themselves that are operated with RMS and AMS, allowing to closely monitor incidents resulting from operational failures or intrusions in real time.

The main technologies in which the STARMS project advances beyond the current state of the art and which are the subject of its research and development are associated with the following areas:
